The McEwen Klan

We are so grateful for our beautiful family.  We are humbled to be the guardians of these four amazing, beautiful, talented, and blessed children.  We recently had a talented neighbor take these pictures.  While I would have loved to share all of the pictures, I would not subject you to the 15 minute video!

Where have you been all my life?

Well, yes it is true-I have been a little busy and non-existent on this blogging thingy.  But alas, all good things must come to an end!  It seems as though I suddenly have some free time on my hands and so it must needs be that I post something for you good people out there.

I am sure that you are just dying to see more pics of our beautiful new addition, Penelope Jane.  Yes, you read that correctly-Penelope.  Why? You ask.  Because we LOVE it and it is just who she is, that's why.  Although she has quickly taken on new "names"- a few of those being: Pippa (my favorite), Nelly, PJ and I am sure there will be more to come!

She is such a joy and even though Andrew has yet to really love her, he is getting better and now has decided it is okay to give her kisses.  So one step at a time, and soon he will love her and want her to follow him everywhere!

Anyway, here are some pictures of her-

Here she is-all 7 lbs 5oz of her after her first bath.

Poor Pippa, Andrew giving his first look of 'disgust'!

Wow-did we really double our family in less than 15 months??

Back to School

So crazy-our little Kaitlin started 4th Grade today! Where oh where has all that time gone? Man we are getting old. Katie has a new teacher again this year, Ms. Robinson. She is more than excited to return back to school and did not want mom to follow her to school and take pictures. This year the neighbor boy Taylor is also in her class, so she is excited about that as well. She was up early and ready to go. Good luck Katie-we are so proud of you!! xoxoxo Mom & Dad

To My Love...

Ten and a half years of love, joy, sorrow, service, sacrifice, and above all patience. If you would have asked me then how I thought my love for Yvette would grow, I don't know that I would have been able to even come close to gratitude that I have for her. There have been countless hours of her worrying for myself, the girls and many others around us. I cannot even begin to name the many times that she has supported me in my crazy ideas and adventures. Through them all, she is there, happy and supportive no matter what. Though I give her a bad time about the crazy fabrics covering my kitchen table and stacked along the couch-I am so grateful for her talent and her ability to balance two kids, a crazy husbands schedule with church and work and politics-she deserves so much more than I can ever offer. To the woman of my dreams, the mother of my children, and my eternal companion-Happy Birthday Yvette! May you always know of my love for you and know that I will ALWAYS be here for you for ever and always! Matt

Happy 4th Zoe!!

Big blonde curls, big brown eyes, big happy grin and big tight hugs. Small little hands, small little feet, small little kisses, and small little giggles. Quick to love, quick to hide, quick to help, and quick to smile. Slow to bed, slow to sleep, slow to clean up, but happy to live. That's our little Zoe! Where has the time gone? Zoe had her 4th birthday while we were in Pine Valley. Though she was under the weather a little, she sure had fun and was excited for her best present ever-a Zhu Zhu pet Roxie! Yippee!!

Pine Valley Vacation

Earlier this month we took a family vacation to Pine Valley, UT. This is a historic town that dates back to the early 1800's. A perfect sleepy little town that has no gas station, no stores, and plenty of wildlife running the streets. Matt works with a friend who has a family home there, and they graciously let us stay there for several days. It was perfect weather and the view is amazing. The girls had fun riding their bikes, playing games and just hanging out with no interruptions to distract them. We went to church on Sunday in a little chapel built in 1866-the small chapel was barely able to hold 100 people and they held classes outside and anywhere they could find room.
While in Pine Valley, we took a quick trip down to St. George. It was about 104 degrees that day and we found this little water play area and so we ran and picked up some cheap clothes and let the girls run wild for a while. They loved it.
